Hello! My name is Claire and I am a performance artist based in Glasgow, with a background in music, clown and movement. I love collaboration and play, video games, club culture, sensory experiences, queer horror, short story collections and reality tv. I make my own performance art (mostly with Snap - Elastic, who you can read more about below) and I also work as a performer / collaborator / outside eye for other companies.

I trained at Ecole Philippe Gaulier in Paris, and continued my clown learning with Angela de Castro, Red Bastard and Spymonkey. Additional training includes the Meredith Monk Vocal Ensemble, Gob Squad, Marissa Carnesky and Company of Wolves. I was a Jerwood Fellow with Oily Cart and Imaginate from 2020 - 2022.

My first degree was in Music (Glasgow University), where I specialised in voice. I also play the saxophone, violin, piano and accordion and like to pick up most instruments and have a go if I can. As a classically trained singer, I am passionate about contemporary choral work, musical theatre, cabaret and pushing the boundaries of live vocal performance. I originated the role of Palliative Claire in Liz Carr’s groundbreaking Assisted Suicide the Musical - which premiered at the Southbank Centre and toured to Melbourne Comedy Festival. I also directed the multi award-winning Greater Belfast by Little King - a piece of gig theatre with a string quartet that enjoyed a sell out run at The Traverse during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2016.

I am co-artistic director of multidisciplinary performance collective Snap - Elastic with Eszter Marsalko and Isy Sharman. Snap - Elastic are driven to produce art that disrupts convention and celebrates life, and are not only my safe harbour, but also my crumbling cliff edge and sparkling jagged rocks below. You can find out more about Snap - Elastic and all of our projects at our website here.
